VICTORIOUS DEBUT

Luigi Chinetti persuaded Enzo Ferrari to send two entries to Le Mans in 1949, the first year that the Ferrari name appeared at the Sarthe.  Partnered with Lord Selsdon, it was Luigi who drove for nearly 23 hours to record a historic victory, no mean feat for a man of 47 years old.  It was his third Le Mans victory, the first for a V12 engine and the smallest engine at 1995cc to win Le Mans, until the Porsche Hybrid in 2015.
