Lockhead P-38 lightnings of the U.S.A.A.F 55th F.S are depicted during a low level strike against a Luftwaffe airfield prior to the Normandy invasion. Such strafing attacks were exceedingly dangerous resulting in heavy losses inflicted on the fighter groups.
